Nikolas Tsangaris is a dynamic drummer from Paphos, Cyprus, currently based in Amsterdam. His passion for music began at the age of 4, and over the years, he has developed a deep love for rhythm and world music. Nikolas is known for his versatility, leading and collaborating with a variety of international bands while mostly performing as a sideman.
During his studies, he had the opportunity to perform with the Royal Conservatory Big Band led by the renown Miho Hazama. Nikolas was awarded the “Keep An Eye Outstanding Talent Award” in 2022, performing with the Jong Metropole Orchestra alongside Donny McCaslin. He has also had the honor of performing with the Tivon Pennicott Trio in the Netherlands 2023. He also recorded with Eurotoire, 2021, a European music project, and couple of tracks of Freedom Candlemaker’s latest album “ Ageless”.
As a bandleader and co-leader of Krúe, Nikolas continues to explore new musical frontiers, blending world rhythms and Middle Eastern melodies with a contemporary jazz approach and electronic sounds. Nikolas is the drummer for the Cypriot project of Alkinoos Ioannides, since 2024, a role that holds special significance for him, having grown up listening to Alkinoos's music.
